As we look around, we shrug off these facts and carry on with our selfish desires. Maybe we should look once more.
Countless interesting facts about life
So, I have your attention, correct? While I have your attention, I want to remind you of the many things we take for granted. I also want to make you think a bit harder and widen your horizons. In a nutshell, I want you to use a different perspective when looking at the facts.
Here are some interesting facts about life that you may have let pass you by.
1. War
During the last 3,000 years of civilization, there have only been a little over 200 years of peace. Because of wars raging all around the world, we have become used to fighting constantly. This is a disturbing fact if you think about it, and maybe one that we might wish to change for the future.
2. The origin of sunglasses
So, most everyone thinks that sunglasses were designed to protect the eyes from the sun, right? Well, I am about to change everything you thought was real in life.
The Chinese actually invented the first sunglasses for judges. The dark lenses were designed to hide the judge’s emotions during courtroom proceedings. Look how far sunglasses have come today.
3. Limited color
We think we are superior because we are human, but maybe not…probably not…okay, we’re not. Here’s another reason why. Did you know that chickens can see more colors than we can? Look how we treat chickens.
In fact, a rainbow has millions of different colors, but we can only see a few. How superior do you feel now?
4. Unoriginal human being
You know that feeling of uniqueness you prize so much? Yeah, that one. Remember the say, “You’re one in a billion”? Well, even if this is true, that means you still have over 7 billion people who are just like you. So much for originality, huh! Isn’t that creepy?
5. Going to space, be right back!
If a person were to get in their car, turn toward the sky (again, if that were possible), and start the engine, they could make it into space in only 1 hour. No kidding, It really isn’t that far to reach the outer atmosphere. This is a shorter distance that some people drive to work every day.
6. Facebook memorial
There’s something strange going on, and I noticed it a few years ago. I can think of 20 people who have died and still have a Facebook page accessible to the public.
It’s estimated that in 100 years if Facebook is still around, it will be a huge digital memorial to the dead, surrounded by millions of family and friends, grieving, living their lives and moving on.
Creepy? Oh yes, but also beautiful. You can go to each page of the dead and send lovely messages, poems, and most any moment you wish.
7. Alphabet order
Think about something for a minute, and give me a logical answer in the comments, if you wish. Why is the alphabet in that particular order? The truth is, the order of the alphabet means absolutely nothing. It would have zero effect on anything if the order was changed. Prove me wrong.
8. Fate
Now let’s go deeper, shall we? Guess what? Every single choice you have made in your life has led you to this place, here, reading this post.
Your career, your social life, and any other decision you have made since birth now places you at the moment, in this time in history. We sometimes forget the power of fate and the finality of this rule.
9. Mortality
You don’t really understand how many human beings perish within a year, do you? Well, the numbers will shock you. Within 12 months, over 50 million people will be dead.
One of these people could be someone you’ve passed on the street, a loved one, or…you. Immortality is promised to no one.
10. Strange statistics
Here’s an odd but interesting fact about life. You probably won’t win the lottery. In fact, you are more likely to become president. Statistics show that winning the lottery is closer to impossible than many other things.
11. Tragic
My son is left-handed and this fact gives me chills. Did you know that approximately 2,500 left-handed people die each year as a result of using equipment meant for right-handed people?
There is definitely something wrong with the world if we aren’t making more things accessible to minorities, even left-handed individuals.
12. Shedding skin
No, we’re not snakes or any other kind of reptile, but we can shed our skin. Humans shed about 40 pounds of skin cells in their lifetime which equates to a new skin every month. On the outside, you’re a new person!
